New Projects on My Horizon

The last two days I've been shopping for new craft supplies. I hope I can get some of these things made and sold so I can recoup some of my investments.

Right now I'm working on two snoods. One if worsted weight yarn for every day wear in burgundy. The other is fine crochet cotton in black with red garnet colored square beads for celebrations. These are prototypes I plan to wear myself, but will be listed in my Etsy store of examples for custom orders.

2. Black Snood with Red Beads

3. I also picked up 'eye's for the bunny I knitted already.

And as soon as I find my small knitting loom I want to start making boot toppers.

And I'm really excited to find a new book on making sock monkeys and other sock animals.

And I have a whole lot of Harry Potter themed Christmas ornaments I want to make. I've steered away because of copyright issues, but now I see that Etsy is full of such things and the only one not making money off of it is me. I bought the stuff to make Golden Snitches yesterday. We'll see how it goes.

Right now what I really need is a giant table so I can work on all these things.

I bought a lot of beads for future jewelry projects as well. I'll keep you all posted.

I also made a gauge square for a wrap around sweater I wanted to knit. I kept waiting for the yarn to go on sale. This week, I thought it was on sale, but the 'over-dyed' yarn wasn't included in the sale, so I switched to a similar yarn which is shown in the photo. I got 5 skeins. I hope that is enough.

Yarn for a sweater.
I can't wait to get started on all these new projects.

Skip: The Amigurumi Bunny

My odd amigurumi project wants to be a bunny. So far he is aqua with forest green ears. I can't wait to work on him today.

I made some more hexies for my Mood Afghan. Today's is purple so far. I need to get my yarn more organized.

And I'm not sure if I mentioned my Magenta Slouchy Hat yet. I'm knitting it. Looks too big so I'm crossing my fingers.

Gold Scarf, Mood Afghan and Quilted Tote Bags

Yesterday I finished knitting the sparkly gold scarf. I still have to fix the fringe on it.

And I am also caught up with my 365 day mood afghan. I need to organize all the pieces before they get lost.

The new kitten Houdini is making it harder to craft. He keeps jumping up on my lap or flopping over on the table wanting his tummy scratched. For a feral cat he sure is a cuddly guy.

Did I ever mention the Fat Quarters tote bags I'm making? I don't think I have. I have to turn in the book telling how to make them. Darn it all. When will I learn NOT to make projects from library books. Then I either have to end up buying the book, requesting it again so I can check it out another time, or snapping a photo with my digital camera hoping I can find the directions on my hard drive later.

New Girl's Skirt Project

Right now I'm knitting a gauge square in purple yarn for a girl's skirt design. It is going to be striped with some pretty wild colors.

On Wed. I started crocheting a monkey just about at the end of the knitting gathering at Fanciwerks. I haven't had time to work on it since but I hope to get to it today.

And I'll keep working on my mood afghan. Here is a photo of that:

Mid October Update

Those ideas just keep coming.

Yesterday I started my knitted fox hood in coffee brown, burnt pumpkin and cream. I decided to edge it with the dark color first so the orange will stand out more.

Holding the yarn for the fox hood.

The first 3 rows of the fox hood are done.
The top and bottom layers of the boho purse are ready to be joined.
Above is the Gypsy Boho Style Bag. I've made a lot of progress on it. I love the colors. Things are really coming together.

I find it helpful to stick the buttons onto tape to keep them from blowing away while working on them in the yard.
Fiddling around with crocheting buttons. Would you pay $2 a piece for them on Etsy?
Making a hexagon a day for my MOOD AFGHAN.
Today is day 4 of my mood afghan. What colors shall I choose today? I'm in a hungry mood. Maybe yellow, white and brown for bacon and eggs. Haha.

Sparkling Blue Snood, Slytherin Scarf and Autumn Wreath

On the way to Arcadia I got to work on a snood for a Youtube fan. I'm about half done.

I also finished the Autumn Wreath with fresh roses. We got the roses at Trader Joe's and they were perfect. I also used the greenery and some sprays of yellow flowers from that bouquet to make the wreath look more posh.
The wreath before I added the fresh flowers.

I started my Slytherin scarf on the way to Arcadia, but it was just too hard to follow the double knitting pattern sequence while being jostled around in the car. It is already dark out so I'll have to get photos tomorrow.

Next I want to make a fox hood/cowl.

Reversible Scarf

I was determined to learn double knitting so I ordered the right sized circular needle from Ebay and followed the directions in 'Greetings From Knit Cafe' for a scarf called 'Recycled Scarf.' I made up a sample of it last night, but I made a few mistakes. So I'm going to rip that part out and start fresh with a better idea of what I'm doing.

Boho Granny Square Handbag

Yesterday at Fanciwerks I started a boho granny square purse in autumn colors. I really like this yarn she has called Classic Shades by Universal Yarn. It's the first time I've used it and I'm in love with it. It's 70% acrylic, 30% wool. The variegated portion of the granny square is made of this. It changes from orange to gold to beige to red. It comes in lots of different colorways. The only downside is it is over $8 a skein.

The first two rounds of the granny square.

One of six granny squares I need for the handbag.
There was also a braided scarf I saw at Fanciwerks that I want to figure out how to make. It's 3 strands of 2x2 ribbing about 4" wide all braided together to form a scarf. Neat.

Works in Progress Wednesday: New and Not So New Fiber Arts

Knitting a scarf that I found in 'Greetings From Knit Cafe. So far it's beige. Two x two ribbing.

I'm almost finished with my red and grey woven tam too.

And I'd really like to get back to quilting today.

Bone Cutting For Craft Projects

Yesterday was quite the creative day.  I finally got to work with bone. First I worked on the rhythm bones I'm making out of cow rib bones. Fletcher showed me how to work the belt sander and the band saw. And I used the Dremel too.

Then while we were cutting bone, I remembered the bone I got at a pet store to make hair sticks, so I ran in the house and grabbed that and cut that on the band saw.  I just made the major cuts to separate it into 3 pieces, when Fletcher noticed it was making noise. He couldn't figure out how to fix it so I couldn't use it anymore. I used the Dremel instead to make the rest of the cuts.

I've finished the top of my woven hat. Now I need to flip it over and make the brim.
